  5. The skin of the lids should be examined 
  6. for any "lumps or bumps" or skin lesions. 
  7. It is best to have the patients close their 
  8. eyes and scan the lids starting with the 
  9. upper lid from temporal to nasal followed 
  10. by the lower lid.
  11.  
  12. Low (7 to 10X) to moderate (10X to 16X) 
  13. magnification is used when examining 
  14. the lids with higher magnification only 
  15. used to study an abnormality.  If too high 
  16. a magnification is used numerous 
  17. abnormalities may be missed.
